G.A. OULTON $1000 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The story of Oulton College in Moncton dates back to 1956 with the establishment of a small secretarial school, comprising some 3,500 square feet, on Main Street in downtown Moncton. Gordon Arthur Oulton, the founder of the school, made a decision to start a progressive business school catering to those whose interests lie in private education and the benefits derived from such an institution.

Conditions for awarding of scholarship

1. Student selected must be registered and attend Oulton College
2. Criteria for awarding scholarship
   • Positive attitude
   • Desire to prepare for a career
   • Academic achievement
3. One scholarship per program of $1000 will be awarded to students from throughout the Maritimes
4. The scholarship ($1000) will be applied towards the successful applicant's tuition at Oulton
5. Decision of Oulton Management Committee is final

Mr. Gordon A. Oulton founded Oulton's Business College in 1956, after having spent the previous 19 years as an Instructor and Principal at Robinson Business College in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Mr. Oulton's goal was to run a progressive business college catering to the business needs of the day by offering training in accounting, stenography, short-hand, manual typing, business machines and letter writing. Its first year of operation was a success and the College had approximately 80 students and 6 staff members and was located at 599 Main Street, Humphrey Block, in Downtown Moncton.
